Ernie was born in Hobbs, New Mexico and raised in Lovington, New Mexico. He spent the last 30 years in San Angelo, Texas. He was a career long mechanic, most recently employed at San Angelo State Supported Living Center as a motor pool supervisor. He loved spending time with family and friends and hunting and fishing whenever he could.

Ernie peacefully passed away at Shannon Medical Center on February 26, at approximately 9:30 am. He will be remembered for his huge belly laugh, love of the outdoors, model airplane building and his willingness to eagerly help anyone with mechanical issues.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joy Covington. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Deanna Covington, grandson Justin Covington from Ft. Worth, Texas and granddaughter Skyler Covington from Tomball, Texas along with many friends and family.
