James Lenny Young, age 57, passed away Wednesday afternoon February 17, 2021 at Saint David’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas.
Lenny was born in Dover, Delaware on October 24, 1963 to Ronald Woodrow Young (Woody) and Wanda Young. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy. He served on the USS Iwo Jima for four years on the flight deck. After the Navy, he moved to San Angelo, Texas and worked at Crest Packaging, Linpac and Complete Packaging for close to twenty years. He then went to work at PCD Ferguson, when his dream of needing to move to Ruidoso, New Mexico came true. They then needed him to move back to San Angelo, Texas to complete more work. Lenny and his wife, Carol moved back home where family and friends are. At present time, he was working for Stanolind Operating (from Sterling City) as a pumper.
Lenny is preceded in death by his dad, Woody, his maternal grandparents, Walter and Mary Johnson (from Christoval), his paternal grandmother Bea Burleson, Uncle Gene, Aunt Verna, Uncle Billy, Aunt Sue, and Uncle Danny.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Young of almost 25 years, his mom Wanda Young, his brother Lee Young, his two sons, Chris Hudson and family, Gary (and wife, Heidi) Hudson, two grandchildren, (Sierra and Zachary), nephew Treston and family, and niece Sara and family, aunt Janey and uncle Melvin Asbury.
He loved working and building with wood. He was a very devoted husband, son, papa, and friend who never had an enemy. He was a friend with anyone and everyone, and would help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed.
Graveside services will be at the Ivy Cemetery in Christoval, Texas on Thursday, February 25th, 2021 at 2:00 pm.

Lenny was a great man. I was in the military with him. Actually, I would have never made it through boot camp without his help. We stayed in touch with visits and conversations on a regular basis. We had a lot of fun. I will miss him deeply.

I was fortunate to have worked with Lenny at Complete Packaging. He was a kind and good man with a delightful twinkle in his eye and a broad sense of humor. I am thankful I had the chance to get to know him. I was sorry to hear of his passing and wish to convey my deepest sympathies to his family.

Lenny, my best and oldest friend, knowing someone for 50 years is a long time. But when you have the fun we’ve had and been through the things we have, time sure flies . Seems like only a couple of years ago we were riding our bikes or going on another adventure! I wouldn’t trade any of it for anything with the exception of now, I would give anything and everything if it would bring you back. Just doesn’t seem real. Enjoy the streets of gold and the bigger fish. Love you buddy, Rest In Peace!!

I served aboard the Iwo Jima with Lenny from 1985-88 in the V-4 Aviation fuels division, Lenny was the first to welcome me to the flight deck. First things he asked me was where you from and is there good fishing there? So on several long weekends Lenny and I would drive back to WVa and he would have me drop him at the river and I would go out with my old friends and then come back and pick him up, the main thing I remember about Lenny is that he cared about people and was a great friend. You will be missed smooth sailing for brother.

Anchors away Lenny no longer tied to this world and now with our Heavenly Father, great people leave lasting memories on all who they encounter. Amen
