Mary passed away on November 26, 2020. It seems fitting that she was called to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving Day as it was one of her most loved times of the year to spend with close family and friends.
Mary was born January 30, 1942, in Brownwood, Texas to Roland Wesley Richardson and Flossie Beard Richardson. She married Sidney Brown on September 27, 1973. She was a creative person and had many hobbies. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was truly a caregiver and had so much love to share. She enjoyed singing with her family and friends, especially at large family gatherings during the holidays. Mary also enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved to garden. She can best be remembered by her bigger than life personality and always having a smile on her face. Above all, Mary was a Christian and strongly sought out to do God’s work. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
In addition to raising a family, Mary worked at SACE (San Angelo Communications Electronics), Levi Strauss & Company, and Swift Meat Packing Company. She helped Sidney manage Brown’s Septic Tank Service, as well as helping her neighbor at Bonnie’s Upholstery. Mary had so many talents and loved sharing these talents with her kids, many grandkids, and great grandkids. Later in life, she enjoyed her crossword and sudoku puzzles. Mary enjoyed watching Jeopardy on television, and anything that Russell Crow starred in. Her personality shined through in every conversation that she had and always tried to make the best of every situation with humor.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents (Roland and Flossie Richardson), her beloved husband (Sidney Brown), her sister (Carolyn Swift), two daughters (Sondra Bishop) and (Rhoda Dugger), one son (Randall Brown), one granddaughter (Jessica Kreamer Nelson), and one great grandson (Lucian Nox Angst).
Survivors include her sisters Elizabeth Gibbs of Miles and Angela Pulliam of San Angelo, and a brother, David Dodd of San Angelo. She is also survived by 3 children: Charles Roland Sheppard, Jeffrey Robin Sheppard, and Rebecca Sheppard Angst; Charles Roland Sheppard of San Angelo and his children Roland Matthew Sheppard, Jessica Kreamer Nelson, and Christian James Sheppard; Jeffrey Robin Sheppard and wife Sherry Sheppard and their children Garrett Sheppard, Sam Sheppard, Mattie Sheppard, and Carsyn Sheppard of San Angelo; daughter Rebecca Sheppard Angst and husband Barry Angst and their family Jessica Rogers, Julia Rogers Nowak, Jarret Angst, Kyndall Angst, and Krista Angst all of Needville; Sondra Bishop’s Children: Cy Ann Bailey Gomez, Amanda Bishop Esparza; Rhoda Dugger’s Children: Shaun Payne, Charles Payne, and Sarah Parker; 17 Grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granchild.
The family wishes to thank all of the medical staff at Shannon Hospital who cared for her. She deserved nothing but the best and she absolutely received the best care during uncertain times. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother who never met a stranger and would do anything for anybody if she could and will be greatly missed. Her memories will live in those who knew her and had the opportunity to experience her love and wonderful talents.
