He was born to Jessie "Sye" and Mildred "Maxine" Cummings on September 8, 1947 in San Angelo, Texas. John was a very gentle soul and loved everyone in his family including his aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a graduate of Lake View High School in 1966. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and loved the Lord.
John took care of his parents in their later years when their health began to fail them. His parents meant so much to him. John missed his mom so much after she passed. John never missed a day going to see his dad and caring for him. He was very upset when he had to put his father in a nursing home.
You could always count on John to be there to lend a helping hand, even if he didn't want to, he would still be there for anyone who needed him. He never missed a family gathering and enjoyed catching up and visiting with everyone. Any time the family took a fishing trip he was ready to tag along. John had his two little furry friends who he loved so much, Little Bit and Bubbles.
John suffered a stroke in April about 10 years ago. Needing extra care he moved in to San Angelo Nursing and Rehab to build his strength. He made many dear friends during his stay there.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
John is survived by his brother Wayne Cummings and his wife Karen Cummings; sister, Sherry Jean Daigle; he also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews , two great nephews and a great niece.
He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
