My friend, my mom. My last 5 months with you was a blessing. I enjoyed sharing our memories of Germany, laughing about the trouble we got into and just talking about life. Thank you for allowing Billy and I to love on you, care for you and being so open to come to California. We know you missed Texas and your family and friends but so happy to be able to share your last days. You will be forever in our hearts.

Wally was a delightful customer at the bank where I worked. I very much enjoyed our brief visits. She brought me a piece of lace from Germany one time when she had visited there. My heart is sadder knowing of your loss. My sincerest sympathy. Wally was a honey.

I would like to share one of my favorite memories with my mom. It was a few days before Christmas and mom and Bill were going to Ramona to hunt and meet up with one of there friend's Don Jennings, Doug, Kura and I were to meet them up there a little later. We were just getting ready to go when the phone rang, I answered and on the other end was a lady who said she was with Pomerado Hospital and asked if I was JoannCantrell, once identified she told me there had been an accident and I needed to meet the ambulance at the hospital. Doug drove us there and we beat mom and Bill, as a matter of fact it was probably 15 to 20 mins when the ambulance pulled up. We ran to make sure they were ok but only my mom was there. I asked mom where Bill was and it was at that point I realized she was drunk as a skunk. I asked her what did she drink, she looked at me and said champagne. My daughter Kira was there with us and she wanted to know about her grandma. My mom looked at her and Kira was not much over 5 and she said to her "grandma did you get run over by a reindeer" we all about lost it. Next the surgeon comes in and tells me my mom is drunk and he had the biggest smile on his face, so we asked if he was going to be able to fix my moms leg to which he replied he wasn't sure since she was only 105lbs and he was scared, but he needed to fix the break in her foot and leg since the bone was sticking out. Well I figured everything was okay at that point until a nurse came in and was asking questions and all the sudden she tells mom they need a urine sample to make sure she wasn't pregnant to which mom very loudly said are you people all stupid? That was one of the funniest, best, scary days with my mom..The reason she was drunk was Don brought champagne and my mom had forgot to eat he felt so bad. When Bill was finally able to get down the hill he was a nervous wreck. Mom I love you and you will always be in my heart.Joann
