Jimmy Glen Smith, 70, has passed on to his Heavenly home on February 11, 2019. A celebration of his life will be held on 1:00pm, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Stars on the Concho, located at 10745 US Hwy. 87 North in Carlsbad, Texas with a fish fry to follow. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home/Grape Creek.

Jimmy was born April 4, 1948 in San Angelo to Wade and Ruth Smith. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School and went on to attend ASU.
He married the love of his life, Deena Smith on May 8, 1970. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years and later at the San Angelo State School where he retired after 20 years of service.
Jimmy was a great musician and during his younger years he played in local venues such as, Boots and Saddles and the VFW. He also wrote and published many songs. Jimmy along with fellow friends and employees played in the Highway 87 Band for the clients at the San Angelo State School.
In his spare time Jimmy could be found at his favorite fishing hole doing some catfishing.
Jimmy is proceeded in death by his parents Wade Smith and Ruth French Smith; brothers, Bill Smith and Wiley Smith.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Deena Smith; his children, Dean (Connie) Smith, Heather Smith, Shane (Brandi) Smith; grandchildren, Aaron (Tori) Smith, Corey (Liz) Smith, Levi Smith, Hayden Felts, Makenna Smith and Kapree Smith; great-grandchildren, Artemis Smith, Freya Smith, Kimberly McDowell, Lynnsai Eden, Jeremy Doty and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
