Frank Lawrence Sanders passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born in Brown County, Texas on August 18, 1935. He started school in Barnhart and graduated from Mertzon High School in 1954. As a cowboy on the Bar S/ Rocker B Ranch, he was considered the best windmill man in three counties.

He married Rhonda Edwards on June 5, 1955. With a growing family, he moved to San Angelo and worked at Producers Livestock. Eventually, his knowledge of prime beef led to a career in wholesale meat marketing.
The family spent forty-two years in Harlingen, Texas where he learned to love bay fishing and took many trips with friends into Mexico to fish at Lake Guerrero. Between cowboy stories and fishing tales, Dad was never at a loss for a good yarn.
Dad owned a landscaping company in Harlingen and continued his love of gardening when he moved back to San Angelo in 2008. He attended Belmore Baptist Church with his wife. His last years were spent enjoying the view from his patio, feeding the birds, reading a lot, and of course, he was known to be a great cook. He enjoyed many family gatherings around his food.
Frank is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Rhonda Edwards Sanders; daughter, Sandee Sanders Dean and husband Danny of Austin; sons, Larry Sanders and Mark Sanders of Durango, Colorado; and daughter Terri Sanders of San Angelo. His surviving grandchildren are Amber Sanders, Caitlin Dean Riley and husband Reece, Cameron Dean, Shelby Decker, Austin Decker and wife Savannah; and great granddaughter Arabelle Decker.
He is also survived by his brother, Dennis Sanders; his sisters Dorothy Welch, Loretta Warrington and husband Harvey, Eva Kitts; sister in law, Jamie Sanders. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents Chester and Myrtle Sanders; his brothers Carl (Sonny) and James; sisters Leona Cathey, Helen Grenz, and Julie Baker; granddaughter, Amanda Edwards and grandson, Ian Sanders.
Visitation will be held all day on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Shaffer Funeral Home’s Sherwood Way Chapel. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/ Sherwood Way.
