Tommy was born, March 9, 1938, in Brown County Texas, to Jett and Ruth Hood. He resided in Green Mountain community and Graham Valley. He started Robert Lee School in September 1944. A football injury which resulted in permanent blindness during his sophomore year forced him to attend Texas School for the Blind, Austin Texas, from 1955-1958. He attended several schools or training seminars from 1958-1961 in Austin, Houston and San Angelo.
Tommy is most remembered for the snack bar at Robert Lee Schools from 1961-1968. Lots of adults remember a young student buying a daily snack with the familiar greeting and “thank you” from Tommy.

Tommy is survived by his brothers: Bobby Gene Hood (Joyce), William Hood (Rhonda), one sister JoAnn Williams (Dwaine) and brother-in-law Richard Johnson. Also, ten nephews and nieces, twenty-one great nephews and nieces and one great-great nephew.

The family would like to extend a huge thank you to the Robert Lee Care Center for their excellent care and love given to Tommy for 32 years.
