James Walter “Skipper” Pierce was born on January1, 1937 in San Angelo, Texas to the late Kermit Pierce and the late Evelyn Pierce. He went to his Heavenly home at age 81 on December 10, 2018.

Visitation will be all day Thursday, December 13th from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, December 14, 2018 at Belvedere Memorial Park, 3504 Arden Rd., officiated by Bobby Roger. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.
Skipper married Patsy Lawler on February 20, 1958 and they shared 60 years of life together. He served in the Marine Corps from 1954 to 1958.
He was a brick mason for many years and refined the trade into an art form. He also became a 32nd degree free mason.
Skipper loved to hunt and was passionate about training his hounds and bird dogs. In his later years his interest turned to spur and bit making. He has several pairs of spurs in museums and owned by avid collectors.
His sense of humor was well known to friends and family and his jokes will always be good family memories.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Pierce; sister, Delilah Stallings; granddaughters, Amber Masters and Jaysi Jones.
Skipper is survived by his wife, Patsy Pierce; sister, Debra Brazeal; son, James Pierce; daughter, Kelley Gulley and her husband Ron;
grandchildren, Jeremy and Jordan Jones, Cole and Christopher Pierce, Gavan Eisenbach, and Brady Chandler; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Aryana, Haley, Layla, Journey, and Jayse; many special nieces and nephews.
