On Friday, January 25th, 2019, the Lord opened His arms and welcomed his daughter, Frieda Leona Sturm Janca, 95, of Kerrville, Texas formally of Grape Creek, Texas.
Visitation will be all day Monday, January 28, 2019 at the funeral home with a Rosary to be held at 6 p.m. A celebration of her life, with a mass of Resurrection, will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena, Texas. Burial will immediately follow in Rowena Cemetery. Grandsons will be pallbearers. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/ Sherwood Way.
Frieda was born December 29, 1923, in Rowena, Texas, to Paul and Josephine Pelzel Sturm, the 10th out of 18 children. She attended Rowena schools. On December 30, 1946, Frieda married Albert Janca, Sr in Rowena, Texas. They were married for 60 years before he passed in November of 2007. Frieda was a farmer's wife and a homemaker, and she loved every minute of it. Gardening and tending her rose bushes were favorite past times of hers for many years. She loved her puzzles, word searches, and ceramics. Frieda was a talker and loved visiting with her family and friends.
Frieda was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her parents, Paul and Josephine Sturm; great-grandsons, Christopher Janca and Samuel Janca; four brothers and eight sisters.
She is survived by her son Albert Janca, Jr; daughters, Joan (Bill) Hartung and Ruth (Thomas) Strube; grandchildren, Allen (Carmen) Janca, Kristi (Dave) Lewis, Angie (Brian) King, Kevin Janca, Heath (Melinda) Hartung, Jodi (John) Werner, Christy (Danny) Wooten, Justin (Deann) Cantrell, Jaime Cantrell, April (Jean) Blouin, Jennifer (Doug) O'Neill, Beau (Kendra) Strube, Tara (Charles) Graves, and Cody (Cherokee) Strube; 30 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Lorene Cmerek, Dorene Matthiesen, Rosa Schwertner, Julia Rohmfeld, and Patsy Rohmfeld; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frieda was a loving and devoted wife, sister, mother, grandma, great grandma, and great-great grandma who left so many memories for her family to hold onto. They are comforted in knowing that she has been reunited with the love of her life.
