Hortencia T. Garza, 94, of Robert Lee, Texas, passed away peacefully September 1, 2020, at the Robert Lee Care Center. She was born to the late Santos and Juanita Tijerina, January 5, 1926, in Robert Lee, Texas. She married the late Conrado L. Garza in 1951, where they lived and raised their family in Robert Lee. Hortencia is survived by four children: Paula Jasso (Daniel), of Robert Lee; Lucia Ziegenhorn (Douglas), of Stafford, VA; Alicia Garza, of Robert Lee; and Esteban Garza, of Robert Lee. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding Hortencia in death were her loving husband, Conrado; five children: Joe, Bertha, Julia (Christina), Conrado Jr. (Corny), and Raymond; and grandchildren, Patti Garza and Daniel Jasso Jr. Hortencia was a loved and respected member of the Robert Lee community, where her thoughtful and caring personality unified and defined her work ethic in her earlier employment working as a Certified Nursing Assistant providing care to patients and residents at nursing homes in San Angelo, Bronte, and Robert Lee. As a faithful person, Hortencia enjoyed reading the Bible for spiritual guidance, and her hobbies included gardening, cooking, and watching her Spanish soap operas. Respecting the health and safety of family and friends, a private burial was held on Saturday, September 5, 2020, in Robert Lee. However, once the coronavirus pandemic is no longer a threat, a “Celebration of Life” mass and reception for Hortencia will be planned and announced to honor this beautiful and loving woman. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that people make donations in support of the American Diabetes Association. A poem for our loving Mom…gone, but never forgotten.
