Obituary for Kenneth Don Smith Sr.
KENNETH SMITH
SAN ANGELO – Kenneth "Duda" Don Smith, Sr.,72, passed away in his home on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. A memorial service will be at 2:00p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Shaffer Funeral Home’s/Sherwood Way Chapel. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.
Kenneth was born Feb. 13, 1945, in Big Spring, TX. He worked various jobs throughout Texas and spent many years working at the Higginbotham lumber yard and Gulf gas station in Colorado City. He loved to play his acoustic guitar. He volunteered his time playing and singing country music for various nursing homes in Colorado City and Loraine. He truly enjoyed playing for the residents and putting a smile on their face. Kenneth took joy in watching his two sons, Kenny and Thomas, grow from boys to men. He was always there to tell them how proud he was of them and was their biggest fan. He absolutely adored his granddaughter; his little "jellybean", Destiny. Kenneth had recently turned his life over to Christ and wanted to live a better life for his family. He will be remembered as a simple man that loved the little things in life. His friends and family meant the world to him and he will be dearly missed.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Odis Wise and Steely Smith, along with his beloved brother, Ronny Smith.
Survivors include his brother Keith Smith of San Angelo; sister Lynne and John Hill of Colorado City; son Kenneth Smith, Jr. of Katy; son Thomas, Sylvia, and Destiny Smith of Austin; sister-in-law Judy Smith of San Angelo; special cousins Jerry McPherson of San Angelo and Hughes family in Florida; and special friends Joyce Campbell, Shelia Alley and Larry and Rhonda Hayes of San Angelo. He is also survived by many nephews; nieces; cousins; and friends in Colorado City and San Angelo. The family wishes to extend apologies to anyone we may have forgotten. His body will be cremated per his wishes and his ashes will be scattered onto a "special" place.
