Cemeteries

Our community has a number of uniquely beautiful cemeteries. Whether you are in need of cemetery property, a genealogist doing research, or simply love to sit in the peace and quiet of a local cemetery or burial ground and enjoy the solitude, this list will prove to be invaluable. See our list of local cemeteries below.

A common misconception that people often have when they purchase the right of interment in a cemetery is that they have purchased the land itself,

when in fact what they have really purchased is the right to be interred (also referred to as buried, entombed, or placed) on or in that particular piece of property.

 San Angelo

Belvedere Memorial Park

August Mason was a long time manager of the cemetery beginning in 1956 until his retirement in June of 1992 at 80 years of age. The Shaffer’s purchased Belvedere Memorial Park in 2000. Belvedere contains a section of 440 spaces that is reserved for current military and veterans of all wars. It has been said that with its rolling hills, native trees, upright granite and marble markers Belvedere is a unique West Texas Cemetery.

Pioneer Memorial Park is located just behind the Shaffer Funeral Home located at Grape Creek. When the Shaffer’s decided to build their location in Grape Creek the decision was made to add a cemetery and crematory, so that families could take care of all their arrangements at one location.
